A week after holding an unprecedented table tennis tournament for journalists and On Air Personalities, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Oyo State Chapter joined relations, friends and associates of a frontline politician in Oyo State who is also the gubernatorial flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress at the 2019 General Elections Bayo Adelabu in celebrating his 50th birthday.
Adelabu marked his birthday on Friday 25th of September 2020 with a friendly football game at the Pioneer Sports Centre Jericho Ibadan.
In one of the programmes lined up to celebrate the golden birthday of the former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, the football team of Oyo SWAN led by its Chairman Niyi Alebiosu traded tackles with the celebrant and his friends.
The novelty match was not devoid of funs and comics associated with such game as players of the two sides showcase their football skills in hilarious manner.
The exciting game however did not produce winner at the regular time as it ended three all and had to be decided through penalty shoot out.
In the resultant penalty shoot out, Oyo SWAN football overcame Adelabu and friends by six goals to five and thereafter carted home the giant trophy donated as prize to the winner of the ceremonial football match.
Earlier, before the commencement of the novelty match, the Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria Oyo State Chapter Mr Niyi Alebiosu presented a large birthday card to the celebrant who thanked the Association of Sports Journalists for celebrating with him on his joyous occasion.
