Osun: When words betray the throne, by Akintunde Adewoye

Power is not just a tool to boss people around or a simple office job; it is a sacred trust. The words a leader uses show the kind of government they are running. Words from a leader should build confidence, calm fears, and show respect. But when leadership turns into loose talk, messy political deals, and embarrassing outbursts, the office loses its value, and public trust begins to break.

In Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke has often made this sad reality clear, turning public speech into a show of careless talk and confusing political moves that do not fit the high demands of leadership.

Looking at Adeleke and his public statements shows a worrying habit where the seriousness expected of a governor is lost to remarks that miss the mark. Leadership requires a careful tongue, especially when politics is tense. Yet, the governor often drops down to harsh, street-style arguments, preferring angry insults over smart governance.

When people offer better ideas or alternative plans for the economy, a true leader responds with facts and deep thinking. Instead, the Dancing Governor, as Adeleke is fondly called, uses rough language, dismissing opposition plans as “old school” or using abusive words to describe opposing views.

In the same way, his public attacks on past leaders – like brushing off entire administrations with street-style taunts by calling a former governor a “shrew who doesn’t realize he’s smelling” – show a shocking lack of self-control. These are not the words of a father of the state; they are angry outbursts from someone acting more like a roadside performer than a serious leader sitting in the seat of governance.

This careless talk also shows up in sudden political moves, such as the surprising party-level endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. Quick political deals like this look more like desperate opportunism than true belief. When a leader changes sides and gives blanket endorsements just to find federal favor or save their own skin, it exposes a clear lack of consistent principles.

Actions and words that treat governance like a game chip away at the respect of the state, making the office of the governor look like a joke. Careless words and quick political tricks carry heavy election costs. Voters do not just look at physical projects or noisy entertainment; deep down, they want a leader who provides safety, wisdom, and moral direction.

When a governor speaks and acts without seriousness, it causes instability and pushes away smart people – intellectuals, professionals, business owners, and community elders who expect high standards. These unstatesmanly actions give the opposition easy proof that the government is unready, turning every careless insult into a powerful weapon for a public that wants dignity, skill and deep thinking in office. As the August 15, 2026 governorship election gets closer, these mistakes turn into strong walls, pushing away neutral voters whose votes will decide the winner.

On the other hand, true hope and the return of dignity come brightly through the candidacy of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO). Here stands a man who is truly the pride of Osun – a smart expert, an experienced financial manager, and a true gentleman of great honor who can stand before leaders anywhere with his head held high. AMBO is completely different from the current surface-level leadership.

His successful career in banking, his great work as a two-term Commissioner for Finance where he smartly increased internal revenue without squeezing the people, and his strong leadership at the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) show a disciplined mind built on real ability. He holds top professional memberships in banking, economic policy, and risk management, and his words are always defined by precision, strategy, and deep respect for the rule of law.

The upcoming August 15 governorship election is therefore much more than a normal contest. It is a historic moral test for the people of Osun State. It is a choice between a noisy, careless government built on loose talk and political confusion, and a golden era of quiet skill, dignity, and financial mastery led by Oyebamiji.

For these and other good reasons, the voters of Osun must look past empty sentiment, look towards true development, and vote AMBO as the next governor. By doing so, they will save the proud seat of the Oduduwa heritage from careless talk, bring back the true respect of public office, and secure a future of honor, wisdom, and lasting peace.
