Osun government says it has embarked on repair and rehabilitation of 25 major roads across the state.
Special Adviser to Gov. Gboyega Oyetola on Transport, Mr Olatoke Olaniyan, disclosed this at a news conference on Wednesday in Osogbo.
Olaniyan said that the rehabilitation work was being handled by the state Road Maintenance Agency, adding that it was presently working on major roads in Ife, Ilesa, Osogbo, Ikirun and Iwo.
He expressed the Oyetola-led administration’s commitment to infrastructure development across the state.
Olaniyan assured that all the ongoing road repairs and maintenance would be completed in record time.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Works, Mr Remi Omowaye, said that the state government was equally rehabilitating some major federal roads across the state.
Omowaye stated that government had embarked on the reconstruction of Lameco/Ifon road, which, he said, had been abandoned by the Federal Government for the past 15 years.
The commissioner, who said that government was committing huge resources to infrastructure development in the state, said that all the ongoing projects in the state would be completed within the stipulated time.
“Government has completed many road rehabilitation and reconstruction in the state.
“Some of them include Gbongan township road, Ara junction to Ejigbo and Kuta township road, among others.
“I can assure you that we will continue to do more as long as we are still in government,” he said. (NAN)
