Ahead of the Sept. 22 governorship election in Osun, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, has urged journalists to display a high sense of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Oyetola made the remarks while hosting members of the Osun council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at his residence in Iragbiji on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir festival
He said journalists, who constitute the fourth estate of the realm, must demonstrate professionalism in their reportage.
Oyetola also enjoined journalists to always uphold the ethics of their profession in the reportage of elections.
In his remarks, the NUJ Chairman, Mr Biodun Olalere, thanked Oyetola for his words of advice.
Olalere urged Oyetola to create a media-friendly environment which would allow journalists to have easy access to him if elected as governor.
He, however, pledged that members of the union would report the forthcoming election without bias.
