The organisers of the award, France Football Magazine released a 30-man shortlist for the 2023 men’s Ballon d’Or on Wednesday.
Osimhen made the shortlist alongside three other African players.
He was the first Nigerian player to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or, PROMPT NEWS reports.
“I must say it is a dream come true for me. It is a big honour for me and my family,” Osimhen told reporters in Uyo.
“I have worked so hard for a moment like this and I must say it is a reward for all the years of hard work and and dedication.
