Super Eagles and SS Lazio midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi has urged his team mates to exhibit confidence when they square up against the Flames of Malawi in a world cup qualifier on Saturday in Calabar
In a chat with Prompt News Online, Onazi expressed optimism that the Super Eagles will win the match and progress to the final playoff round where he says victory is also sure.
“The match is on our mind and we believe God will give us victory. I have one objective which is to play and make sure we win and then proceed to the next stage”
Against Kenya, Super Eagles left it late to get the winner a situation Onazi says will not happen now because the boys are motivated and determined.
“The difference between our team then and now is that we are more determined and we know what is at stake which is victory for Nigeria”.
“The team is unique because we are like blood brothers, the older players guide the younger players on what to do at every point in time and that is the hallmark of a good team”.
On his missing out on the trip to Brazil for the FIFA Confederations Cup due to injury, the Benue State-born midfielder said he was disappointed he missed the Confederation Cup party but he however optimistic that he has better days ahead in his Super Eagles career.
When asked how confident he was at Super Eagles qualifying for the world cup, Onazi said “With God all things are possible and I believe God will never disappoint us, I believe in God and I know He will never fail, that is my confidence”.
