Former Nigeria international Sunday Oliseh has thrown his weight behind Eric Chelle despite the team’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Prompt News reports.
Chelle has faced constant criticism since his appointment in January.
The Super Eagles have have lost once under the Malian – a 4-3 penalty shootout defeat to Democratic Republic of Congo in the final of the African playoffs.
Oliseh said has been impressed with how gaffer has managed the team.
“I am one of those, in reality, was totally unhappy when he was appointed, but I must be honest with you that so far, he has won me over,” the former midfielder said on his podcast
“I feel like the man has really given it a lot, he’s done a lot, and he’s picked up some points, better than any of the two people that preceded him.”
