Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has said he was happy to be part of the Super Eagles squad for last month’s friendlies against Iran and Jordan,” Prompt News reports.
Okoye, who was omitted from the Super Eagles’ squad to 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco featured in the 2-1 victory over Iran’s Team Melli.
A calf injury however prevented the 26-year-old from making an appearance in the 2-2 draw with Al-Nashama of Jordan.
The former Sparta Rotterdam shot stopper is determined to add to his 19 caps for the three-time African champions.
“I was so pleased to be called up to the national team.It’s important to me as a player and as a person. I want to return many more times,” Okoye told the club’s official website.
The Super Eagles will defend their Unity Cup title in May. They will face Zimbabwe in the semi-final at the Valley on Tuesday, May 27.
Jamaica and India will clash in the other semi-final of the friendly invitation tournament.
Nigeria also have two friendlies lined up in June against Poland and Portugal.
