Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta on Tuesday forwarded additional list of eight commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly.
Okowa in a letter sent to the House of Assembly, appealed for their speedy screening and confirmation of their appointments as Commissioners and members of the Delta State Executive Council.
The names of the nominees as contained in a letter, was read by the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, during plenary in Asaba.
The names of the nominees include, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare, Chika Ossai, Mr Basil Ganagana, Chief Emmanuel Amgbadugba, Dr Mordi Ononye, Mr Ovie Oghore, Mrs Bridget Ayanfulu and Mr Solomon Golley.
Okowa had on July 1 sworn in 18 commissioners as members of the State Executive Council.
The governor said that his action was in line with the powers conferred on him by Section 192, Sub-section 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
The governor said that he would appreciate early consideration and confirmation of the nominees by the Assembly.
Subsequently, the speaker directed the nominees to submit 35 copies of their Curriculum Vitae to the Office of the Clerk on or before Monday and to appear for screening on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
The Assembly also on Tuesday at plenary, screened and confirmed the appointment of Mr Henry Idama as the Director-General, Delta State Water Sector Regulatory Commission.
The motion for the confirmation of Idama’s appointment was moved by the Deputy Majority Leader, Mr Oboro Preyor and seconded by Mr Ferguson Onwo, representing Isoko South I Constituency in the state Assembly. (NAN)
