Former Super Eagles captain Austine ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha has rallied support for new coach Eric Chelle.
Okocha further said it is important for the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The erstwhile Bolton Wanderers star was quoted as going against the appointment of the former Mali coach.
The former midfielder however stated that the results of the Super Eagles under Chelle will determine whether or not it was the best decision.
“The decision to appoint the new coach was that of the NFF,” he told Lagos Talks FM.
“We should give him a chance to do his job.
“We should support him as well as the NFF and hopefully we will be at the World Cup.
“We all want the team to qualify for the World Cup because we all benefit when they are doing well.”
He added: “This is a results business. If we don’t qualify, God forbid, he will be the first to know he has failed.”
