The Deputy Speaker, Ogun House of Assembly, Mr Akeem Balogun, on Saturday empowered over 400 members of his constituency with various items to aid their businesses.
Speaking to newsmen at the event, held in Abigi, Ogun Waterside Local Government, the lawmaker lauded the unwavering support of his constituents.
Balogun, representing Ogun Waterside constituency, noted that the support had resulted in the facilitation of democratic dividends to the people across the 10 wards of the local government.
He noted that the self-financed empowerment was borne out of his commitment to always identify and address the immediate needs of his constituents.
He explained that the empowerment items included sewing machines, grinding machines, hair dryers, barbing clippers, knapsack sprayers and cash to 50 people, among others.
In his remarks, Mr Olakunle Oluomo, the Assembly Speaker, described Balogun as a dependable lieutenant, who possessed enviable leadership values.
Oluomo counseled the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture with improved loyalty and support to the government.
He indicated that lawmakers in the Ninth legislature are yet to access their respective Constituency project allowances.
He assured them that more developmental projects would be embarked upon immediately the State Government made funds available to the legislative arm.
He admonished beneficiaries of the empowerment items and cash to make judicious use of the items and continue to support the Gov. Dapo Abiodun-led administration. (NAN)
