The South South Media Professionals Forum, SSMPF, has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, of inciting Nigerians against the government of President Goodluck Jonathan.
The group in a statement in Abuja, accused Obasanjo of deliberate plans to cause general disaffection against Jonathan with the aim of overthrowing the government of the day.
According to the statement signed by Ambrose Inusa Sule, Director of Public Affairs of the SSMPF, the former President’s claim that the present administration has under-performed was an invitation to anarchy despite obvious evidences that his regime performed woefully in several sectors as well as being very repressive which was as a result of his dictatorial tendency.
The group stated further that Obasanjo being a former President has unhindered access to President Jonathan but has chosen to tow the path of ignominy and incitement by his unguarded utterances.
The statement urged Obasanjo to learn from other former leaders who no doubt are concerned about the country’s progress have continued to pass on their ideas to Jonathan behind the scene.
In a related development, the SSMPF has cautioned the MURIC from making unfounded claims as regards the Centenary N100 notes.
The media group observed that the hysteria of the MURIC is unfortunate and a call to anarchy while stating that the Arabic signs on some of the country’s currencies have not being an issue in the country and wondered why a symbol that was not even there in the first instance should become a call to war.
