The Financial Services sector led the activity chart 1.105 billion shares valued at N6.652 billion traded in 13,369 deals last week on the floor of the Nigeria Stock exchange.
A turnover of 1.514 billion shares worth N12.062 billion in 24,983 deals were traded in contrast to a total of 1.071 billion shares valued at N13.139 billion that exchanged hands last week in 23,190 deals.
Thus financial services sector contributed 72.95%, 55.14% and 53.51% to the total equity turnover volume, value and number of deals respectively.
The Conglomerates sector followed with a turnover of 224.979 million shares worth N810.381 million in 1,300 deals, contributing 14.86%, 6.72% and 5.20% to the total equity turnover volume, value and number of deals respectively. The Oil and Gas sector came third with 65.914 million shares worth N709.901 million in 2,576 deals.
Trading in the top three equities namely Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc, Wapic Insurance Plc and Diamond Bank Plc (measured by volume) accounted for 563.970 million shares worth N1.468 billion in 1,303 deals, contributing 37.25%, 12.17% and 5.22% to the total equity turnover volume, value and deals respectively.
Similarly, a total of 440 units of New Gold Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) valued at N922,960 executed in 2 deals were traded during the week compared with a total of 120 units valued at N260,525 transacted last week in 4 deals.
Also, 4,410 units of FGN bonds valued at N4.928 million were traded during the week in 5 deals in contrast to 1,600 units valued at N1.765 Million transacted last week in 5 deals.
