To check criminal activities in border communities, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has concluded arrangements to deploy its personnel to such areas in Jigawa.
A statement by the NSCDC Spokesperson in Jigawa, DSC Adamu Shehu, quoted the Commandant, Mr Muhammad Danjuma, as saying this in Dutse on Wednesday.
Danjuma dropped the hint when receiving retired AVM Haruna Umar, the North-West Zonal Coordinator, National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons, who paid a courtesy visit on him.
The NSCDC Commandant, when appreciating the team lead and delegates from the centre for the visit, promised to give his undaunting support towards the success of the crusade against proliferation of small arms and light weapons in the country.
He also declared his intention of deploying his personnel to man the borders with a view to checkmating the smuggling of lethal weapons that was capable of jeopardizing the relative peace of the state as well as that of the nation.
Earlier, Umar said that the visit was to seek for continuous support and collaboration of the corps in its efforts of ridding the nation of the menace of proliferation of illicit small and light arms.
He also appreciated the NSCDC for its pivotal role as a critical stakeholder in safeguarding the nation. (NAN). READ ALSO:
