The Edo Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says it has deployed 1,058 personnel for Saturday’s local government councils election.

Mr Efosa Ogbebor, the spokesperson for the command said this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
Ogbebor said the deployment was based on the instruction of the state Commandant, Mr Samuel Dan.

He said that the deployment was to prevent assault or violence on the electorate during and after the election.

He urged the personnel to discharge their duties according to the corps’ operational code and the rule of law, adding that those who flouted the rules would be sanctioned.

“The command is deploying 1,058 personnel for the local government election coming up this Saturday.
“Personnel deployed include the anti-vandal squad and special forces.

“They are to among others monitor the elections, all critical national assets as well as flashpoints in the state.

“Also personnel from the arms squad unit, counter-terrorism, chemical, biological radiological and explosives unit, the female squad, Rapid Response Squad (RRR) have been deployed for this all important exercise in the state,” he said.

Ogbebor added: “The specially trained undercover personnel in the command would also be on duty.”

He added that all personnel deployed for the special operation had been well trained and briefed on the rules of their engagement during the exercise. (NAN). READ ALSO:
