The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia Command, on Friday, decorated at least 200 officers with new ranks.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the exercise was performed by the state Commandant, Mr Paul Igwebuike, at the command’s headquarters in Umuahia.
The officers were promoted from the ranks of the Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) to Assistant Commandant of Corps and Superintendent of Corps to CSC, among others.
In a speech, Igwebuike commended the Commandant-General of the corps, Dr Ahmed Abubakar-Audi, for his commitment to the welfare of officers and men of the corps, as demonstrated by the promotion.
“When I saw the list, I counted myself lucky to be associated with Abia command, moreso, when it is during my stewardship.
“In my tour of the command and formations I have never seen it this good,” he said.
Igwebuike charged the decorated officers to continue to work hard in the discharge of their duties, saying “to whom much is given much is expected.”
According to him, promotion comes with several things, among which is added responsibilities.
“I pray and admonish you to acquaint yourselves very well with your new positions in order to discharge your duties diligently and with fortitude,” Igwebuike said.
Speaking with newsmen, the command’s Spokesman, Mr Ndukwe Agu, who was promoted to the rank of CSP, said that it was an encouragement to do more for the corps in service to one’s fatherland. (NAN). READ ALSO:
