The Nasarawa state Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, said that it had recently apprehended 35 criminals in the state.
Dr. Muhammud Gidado-Fari, the state commandant made this known while briefing newsmen in Lafia, Tuesday.
According to the commandant, 28 of the suspects were arrested for banditry, kidnapping and armed robbery in various locations in the state.
He disclosed that seven suspected hired killers have also been apprehended for allegedly killing nine persons.
According to him, six persons who allegedly vandalized about 109 railway sleepers and six transformer parts in Tudun Kauri area of Lafia local government of the state were also arrested.
“A five-man syndicate, specialized in snatching motorcycles have been arrested, five motorcycles were retrieved from them” he revealed.
He further disclosed that three persons were arrested for stealing handsets. Twenty-seven mobile phones and laserjet printer were recovered from the suspects.
The NSCDC boss said that about eight illegal miners were apprehended, retrieving a generator set, drilling machine, ten shovels and other working equipments.
Fari stated that all the suspects in custody would be charged to court and prosecuted as soon as the command complete its investigation.
The commandant warned bandits and other criminal elements to either surrender their arms or relocate from the state, adding that the NSCDC will continue to make Nasarawa state unbearable for them to operate.
