The Kwara Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested one Saliu Abdullahi, 21, from Luman, Agbara Local Government Area of Niger.
The corps said this in a statement signed by Mr Ayeni Olasunkanmi, the Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the command, on Wednesday in Ilorin.
Kaiama Division of the NSCDC in Kwara made the arrest, he stated.
Olasunkanmi said that the suspect was arrested based on allegation of house breaking and theft reported by Baba Umar of Pissio Extension Area, Kaiama.
“After the arrest, the suspect in his personal statement accepted that he committed the allegations made against him.
“Some of the items recovered from him includes stabiliser, radio and clothes,” he said.
The PRO said that the suspect was prosecuted at Grade 1 Area Court presided by Judge Adamu Lukman.
The court sentenced the suspect to three months imprisonment without any option of fine for trespass.
Lukman further said that Abdullahi was also sentenced to one year imprisonment without any option of fine for theft.
“He will serve his jail term at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, New Bussa,” Olasunkanmi stated.
The Kwara Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Umar Mohammed, appealed to the public, especially youths, to desist from criminal activities.
Mohammed also urged the public to always support the corps and other security agencies with timely and credible intelligence information in order to curb insecurity in the state. (NAN). READ ALSO:
