Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has charged the management and players of 3SC to brace up for the matches ahead to secure promotion for the club into the elite NPFL cadre.
A statement signed by Mr Taiwo Adisa, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, and issued to newsmen on Tuesday, in Ibadan, quoted the governor as saying this, while promising that his administration would do everything possible to support the team.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 3SC on Tuesday defeated Bendel Insurance FC of Benin 2-1 in the NNL Super -8 play-offs in Enugu, to kick-start their NPFL promotion bid.
The governor hailed the 3SC players and charged them to go for glory, by reclaiming the former height attained by the club in the country.
“I commend the management and players of the team for justifying the passionate belief and confidence that we have in them. This victory is well-deserved, as it showed the determination of our boys to bring back the glory days of the club.
“It will be remarkable and eventful if the boys can bring back the glory days by securing promotion at a period that our government has just remodelled their grounds – the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, to a world class facility,”Makinde stated.
NAN reports that 3Sc is billed to face Remo Stars FC in their next encounter on Thursday, day two of the play-offs.
