Embattled candidates of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and Valentine Ozoigbo, are among the lucky candidates whose names will appear in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) final list for the November 6 Anambra state gubernatorial election.
This much was disclosed on Tuesday in Abuja by INEC National Commissioner incharge of Legal Services, Barrister (Mrs.) May Agbamuche-Mbu during the Commission’s 3rd Quarterly Consultative Meeting with the media held at INEC Headquarters in Abuja.
Agbamuche-Mbu who spoke against the backdrop of many court cases that have trailed the primary elections of political parties contesting in the
upcoming Anambra state governorship election in November, said INEC will publish the names of cleared candidates on October 7.
According to her: “INEC will publish the final list of candidates for the Anambra governorship election on October 7 and in the case of candidates PDP and APGA, the Commission is relying on the Appeal Courts order unless there are orders from the Superior court of the land”.
However, by this pronouncement, it means that both the PDP candidate, Ozoigbo and his APGA counterpart, Prof. Soludo’s names will appear in the INEC final list except the Supreme Court of Nigeria rules otherwise before October 7.
