Kano Pillars Football Club on Thursday defeated visiting Kwara United 2-1 in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the week 16 match which was played at the Sani Abacha Stadium Kofar-Mata, Kano, was watched by large number of spectators.
Both sides missed several goal-scoring chances in both halfs of the entertaining encounter.
The visitors took the lead in the 14th minutes through Emmanuel Agaba.
Muhammad Aminu equalized for Pillars in the 45th minutes while Mustafa Ibrahim finished off the game for the home side in 90th minutes to the cheers of the home fans.
In a post-match interview, Kwara United coach, Kabiru Dogo, hailed his boys for putting up a great performance.
He also said that the home side were lucky to win the match.
The Kwara boss further commended the Pillars for their fighting spirit.
Pillars Coach, Abdu Maikaba, said that he knew even before game that the match would be difficult.
According to him, Kwara have good and talented players which made them to play very well.
Maikaba further commended his young team for getting the maximum points.
