The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed and Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, have commended a creative photographer, Niyi Olagunju for the book launch and photo exhibition of “Durbar in Northern Nigeria”.
The Minister and the Emir made the commendation at the inauguration of the photo exhibition titled “Durbar in Northern Nigeria” held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Segun Adeyemi, the Minister said the Federal Government was committed to the promotion of the culture of the people in all its diversities.
This, he stated, would be achieved through the building of a dynamic and participatory public information system.
He said, “Durbar has been with us for very long, but over the ages it has proved its flexibility and its sensitivity to adaptation to changing circumstances.
“Today, its ancient garments for conflict have evolved into fares that please the eye with their splendour.
“Its celebration has become a feast of union of the people with their leadership, and a demonstration of the skills of valour and beauty.”
Mohammed welcomed the initiative that led to the exhibition and commended its creative photographer and manager, Niyi Olagunju.
The creative photographer and photo exhibition was also commended by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu; the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and the Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Mariam Katagum who attended the book launch and exhibition in Paris.
