The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied constituting a caretaker committee for its Sokoto state chapter.

A statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh reads, “Our attention has been drawn to statements from certain quarters suggesting that the National Working Committee (NWC) has constituted a Caretaker Committee for the Sokoto State Chapter of our great party.

“This is completely false and intended to mislead our members and the general public.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the NWC wishes to state categorically that it has not constituted any Caretaker Committee for the Sokoto State Chapter of the PDP.

“The NWC therefore urges party faithful in Sokoto State and the North West geo-political zone to disregard statements made by those purporting to be the Caretaker Committee of the party in Sokoto State”.
