The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigeria National League (NNL) has approved the format, new rules and kick-off date of the league’s 2024/2025 season.
The meeting, according to a communique released on Sunday in Bauchi, also approved the season 2023/2024 league table as presented by the NNL secretariat.
“The new season will kick off on Nov. 30, with a Star Match, to be followed by other matches a week later,” the communique signed by Yakubu Sarma, the drafting committee chairman, indicated.
It added that a four-conference format of 36 clubs, with nine teams each, was agreed upon for the 2024/2025 season
“Only the stadia meeting NNL stadium facilities criteria will be approved for the 2024/2025 league season,” the communique indicated further.
It also added that the NNL adopted amended rules and regulations for the 2024/2025 season.
According to the communique, monthly awards will be given to the best goalkeeper, best coach, most valuable player, best goal scorers, best-behaved team and and best performing referee.
The Communique also said only Postar/NNL branded balls and NNL bibs would be allowed in NNL matches.
It added that the AGM also commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) under Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau for its excellent leadership and support.
“The league also expressed gratitude to Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and the state’s people for hosting the AGM and showing exceptional hospitality,” the communique stated.
The Communique also indicated that the AGM also approved the election of Godwin Enakhena as the new President of the NNL Club Owners and Managers Association (NALCOMA).
It added that the meeting approved the nomination of Boniface Alozie Uche as a representative of the Club Owners in the NNL Board
“The meeting passed a vote of confidence in the NNL Board led by George Aluo for successfully repositioning the league and bringing serenity to the league’s operations,” the communique stated.(NAN).
