The State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Ondo State chapter, Comrade Victor Amoko has said workers in the state would stay off work if their demands are not met.
Some of the demands are— implementation of resolution jointly reached with government and TUC, immediate reversal of all anti poor policies including recent hike in PMS price, school fees and VAT, fixing of local refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna among others.
Amoko who led Ondo State workers in a peaceful protest to the Governor’s office in compliance with the national directive for workers to boycott work, said government must reverse some of its policies that have burdened the people.
Flanked by other leaders including Comrade Bola Taiwo, NULGE State President; Comrade Afolabi Oluwafemi, State Chairman Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria; Comrade Ademola Olapade, Comrade Musa Samuel, Comrade Nneke Ikechukwu, Comrade Yusuf Abiodun and Comrade Clement Fatuase, State TUC Chairman among others, Amoko noted that workers would not backtrack until the needful is done. The NLC Chairman, however, called on the government as a matter of urgency to release the 8 months withheld salaries of University Lecturers and workers and accord appropriate recognition and support to the Presidential Steering Committee and the work of its Sub Committee.
