The Nigeria Film Corporation (NFC), has deployed its newly acquired expandable and articulated Audiovisual Training Platform to increase film production across the country.
The Managing Director, NFC, Dr Chidia Maduekwe said this at the induction of beneficiaries of the Federal Government “N-Creative Skills Training Project’’ for the Northern zone on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to him, the platform is designed as a mobile film training school and capacity building for the project of 70 per cent local content.
Maduekwe said that the project would contribute immensely toward the present administration’s pledge to give hope to the teeming unemployed youth of Nigeria.
He noted that the NFC through the National Film Institute had strengthened its formal and informal training programme which now includes training, capacity building, skills and entrepreneurial training.
According to him, the programme is being continually undertaken in several states of the federation.
“The platform is equipped with the latest film training facilities that can be found anywhere in the world.
“It is also fitted with high tech digital satellite for online, real time learning and transmission of film projects digitally.
“The essence is to have one stop film and post production facility,’’ he said.
He noted that the project would be replicated across the six geo-political zones of the country, as it would boost and increase film production in the country.
“The ultimate aim is to improve youths’ employment opportunities,’’ he said.
The NFC boss said that the corporation would continue to support the Federal Government’s creative entrepreneurial skills for youths, as it would enhance Economic Growth and Recovery Plan initiative.
He said that the corporation would collaborate with other MDAs’, organised private sector and international development agencies to train the youth on skills acquisition.
Also speaking, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq says that 1,500 youths from the northern zone benefitted from the N-creative programme.
The minister, represented Mr Bashir Ankali, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry said the participants would undergo training on various vocational skills to make them self-reliant and employable.
She noted that similar trainings had been done in the southern part of the country in 2019, adding that 1,500 beneficiaries were trained and supported in Edo.
Farouq said that adequate modalities had been put in place to ensure that participants adhered to COVID-19 protocols. (NAN)
