The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has announced Prof. Femi Shaka as the Chairman of the eight-member jury to adjudicate on all entries in the Competition Category of Zuma Film Festival (ZUFF).
This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by Mr Brian Etuk, NFC’s Director of Public Affairs.
Etuk said that Shaka and other members of the jury were expected to bring their wealth of experience to bear in selecting winners.
“Membership of the jury includes both Nigerian and foreign film stakeholders, who have contributed immensely to the growth of film production.
“Shaka is one of the most revered arts, theatre and film development scholars and specialists.
“He has contributed immensely to the growth of Nigeria’s vibrant movie industry also known as Nollywood.
“He is a well-known strong advocate for cinema as a tool for national development, through regular campaigns for establishment of a department of film and television studies,” he said.
He said that composition of the jury reflected the weight of ZUFF, which he described as one of the fastest growing international film festivals in the world.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 13th edition of the ZUFF will hold from Dec. 1 to Dec. 10 in Abuja with the theme: “Cultural Convergence”.
