“The Federal Government is interested in the wellbeing of victims affected by disasters, hence the distribution of the relief materials to give them succour.
“The agency has the responsibility to develop strategies that would impact on the states and the local governments affected by disasters so that they can equally be touched.
“Akoko Edo is one of the local governments that were affected; it is in response to this that we have come this morning to handover the items to the victims,” he said.
The facilitator of the relief materials, Hon. Peter Akpatason (APC-Edo), representing Akoko Edo federal constituency in the House of Representatives, said that the donation was to ameliorate the sufferings of the victims.
“The items will ameliorate the sufferings of my people and bring them back to life so that they would know that they belong to the society and that I remember them in their times of need,’’ he said.
Mr Tunde Adeyemo, who spoke on behalf of the victims, thanked NEMA and the lawmaker for the gesture.
“We are indeed very grateful to NEMA for deeming it fit to bring this kind of relief materials to us.
