The Nasarawa State Government has charged its workers to be dedicated to their duties and uphold the ethics of the civil service.
The Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Isaac Danladi, gave task while addressing the management and staff of the ministry.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Eche Amos, the ministry’s Pubic Relations Officer (PRO), and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Lafia.
He warned staff of the ministry against lateness to duties in their interest and for the overall development of the state.
The statement said: “I am sad to say the Civil Service is getting roughened, and we have to sanitise it.
“By the Service rules, all staff are supposed to be in office by eight o’clock in the morning.
“I was here around 8:15 a.m and stayed up to 9 a.m, and only few people were in the office.
“I don’t know whether that has been the practice here. I spoke with some of the Directors that were here earlier, and they have given some explanations,” he said.
The permanent secretary also urged directors of the ministry to continue to be alive to their duties.
“It is most unfortunate that even some Directors were not in the office at the stipulated Civil Service time.
“So, how can I blame the junior staff when the senior staff are not living by example?
“Henceforth, this attitude won’t be tolerated,” he warned.
The permanent secretary further urged civil servants to uphold the ethics of the civil service for development to thrive. (NAN)
