The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has threatened to invoke all relevant sections of the Constitution to compel the state Task Force Committee on COVID-19 to appear before its Ad-hoc Committee on COVID-19, following the inability of the Committee members to honour the invitation extended to them by the Committee.
Chairman of the committee and member representing Lafia Central, Hon Dahiru Abdullahi Angibi stated this while briefing newsmen at the assembly complex in Lafia, Tuesday.
Angibi lamented that the House through the Ad-hoc committee on COVID-19 has invited members of the state Task Force Committee on COVID-19 but they did not honouring the invitation.
He re-emphasized that the House is interested to meet with the state Task Force members not the members of the secretariat and asked them to go back.
The lawmaker who was visibly displeased stated emphatically that the House will not hesitate to use relevant laws of the Constitution to do the needful if the members of the state Task Force on COVID-19 failed to honour its further invitation.
Recall that on 28 July, 2020, the state house of assembly constituted a six-man ad-hoc committee to monitor the activities of the state COVID-19 task force.
