The Nasarawa State House of Assembly on Wednesday, passed the 2020 supplementary appropriation bill of N20.2 billion into law.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, announced the passage during the House proceedings in Lafia.
“A Bill for a Law to Issue Out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the State (Supplementary Appropriation Bill) the sum of N20, 203, 376, 300 only for the Services of Nasarawa State Government for the period of two months, commencing 1st November, 2020 and scale third reading and passed into law,” he said.
Balarabe Abdullahi explained that the speedy passage of the bill was to enable the state government address some challenges birthed by the outbreak of COVID-19, which had dented the economy.
The speaker commended his colleagues for their support in giving the 2020 supplementary bill presented by governor Abdullahi Sule, speedy passage and directed the clerk to the House to produce a clean copy of the bill to the governor for his assent.
Earlier, Hon Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the 2020 supplementary bill to scale third reading, seconded by Hon Luka Iliya Zhekaba, the Deputy Minority Leader of the House.
Recall that on Nov. 11, 2020 Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, presented N20.2billion 2020 supplementary budget to the state House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
The Sum of N14,816,626,602b is for recurrent expenditure while N5,386,719,300b is for capital expenditure.
