The Nigerian Air Force, has charged its officers on the importance of active training ahead of the 2018 Inter Command Combat Sports competition, scheduled to hold from April 1 to April 7 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
Air Vice Marshal Stephen Onuh, the Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Bayelsa Mobility Command, gave this charge on Saturday at its first Quarter Route March in Yenagoa.
Onuh said that the active training and preparations would enable the command to perform excellently during the competition.
He explained that the Combat Sports competition was in line with the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar’s vision toward maintaining physical fitness of personnel.
“The Inter Combat Sports is an annual event, which will take place in Uyo and we have the privilege to be the host command; let me therefore, encourage you all to train actively to ensure that we succeed.
“I appreciate the visionary style of the leadership of the Chief of Air Staff and for granting the Mobility Command the hosting right for the 2018 Combat Sports,” Onuh stated.
He said that Route March, which was a quarterly event in the NAF, was aimed at maintaining the required level of fitness expected of the personnel.
“This is to strengthen the esprit de-corps among the officers and the exercise now stands as a veritable tool to ensure personnel readiness to carry out the constitutional responsibility of defending the country.
“Let me state that the exercise, especially the Route March, remains the last dose of medication prescribed to everybody to enjoy good life and longevity,” he said.
