LAGOS – By Victoria Hanson Dr. Adekunle Okubule, a motivational speaker, has tasked Nigerian unemployed youths to put into practice whatever they have acquired in school as this would assist them to be self-employed.
Okubule, who is the principal consultant and CEO, The Emancipator Consult in Lagos, stated this in an interview with Prompt News Online.
He explained that a graduate is meant to solve problems as he or she went to higher institution to deliver and to also add values.
On the issue of unemployment amongst the youths, the consultant hinted that there are vast job opportunities everywhere in Nigeria, noting that the issue is graduates don’t know how to solve problems.
He explained that jobs is a matter of solving problems, adding values, creating solutions and handling of crisis.
According to him, “majority of people don’t understand when a company says vacancies, it doesn’t mean empty chairs or tables. It means there is a problem lingering in an organization which needed immediate solutions.”
The motivator disclosed that Nigerian graduates always claimed that they attended the most popular Universities in the world during interviews, such as the University of Nigeria, University of London and University of England.
‘They even prefer to carry files and deliver messages, is that work? He asked rhetorically, they abandoned great knowledge and skills which they acquired from school.
While advising the youths to take whatever they had learnt serious and be gentle enough to ask questions, he also appealed to the governments to encourage youths by orientating them through workshops and seminars as this would also help them to achieve their goals.
