Godwin Kingsley, Lafia The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Nasarawa State, Yunanah Illiyah has said more office holders will defect from the All Progressives Congress to PDP in the state.
Illiyah disclosed this in a chat with Prompt News Online in Lafia, Thursday. The chairman said although he would not be categorical about the defectors but will unfold important information in the nearest
future.
He also said the issue of automatic ticket requested by members of the House of Representatives would be discussed at the appropriate time.
Illiyah, also welcomed the two lawmakers who defected to PDP and assured them of equality with other members.
He said “if you have 10 children and 2 or 4 travelled out, when they come back they will still be your children.
“So, the two lawmakers Kigbu Emmanuel and Mbugadu are products of PDP before they left and now they are back so we will give them equal treatment”.
Speaking on the forthcoming local government elections, the chairman said the PDP are fully ready for the March 22 polls.
He also disclosed that consensus candidates have been adopted by stakeholders of various local governments hence the primaries would serve as an avenue for affirmation.
Illiyah however, expressed displeasure over the 27 million naira released to the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission, NASIEC, instead of the 500 million naira approved by the State House of Assembly.
