Alhaji Isa Muhammad, the District Head of Sabon Birni in Sokoto State on Wednesday, commended the Nigerian Air Force and Nigerian Army on their onslaughts against bandits in the area.
Muhammad gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) in Sokoto.
He noted that the interventions had restored normalcy in the area, which recently witnessed killings and displacement of communities by bandits.
The district head assured the military of maximum support in order to achieve the desired results.
He also lauded NAF for conducting medical outreach where people in his community were given free treatment and food items, stressing that the gesture had enhanced people’s well-being.
Muhammad advised members of the community to shun all forms of restiveness and support law enforcement agencies in their task to restore permanent peace in the area.
He also called on the people to continue to live in harmony with the security agents.
The district head refuted claims that security personnel from Niger Republic were protecting Nigerians against the bandits in the area.
He said Nigerian troops have been rooted in the area and recording successes as residents were witnessing relief, as the hitherto daily attacks by bandits have stop.
The monarch further commended Gov. Aminu Tambuwal on his commitment and concerns over the plights of the people across the state.NAN recalled that Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, said that NAF had intensified strikes on bandits’ hideouts in Sokoto communities and border areas with Niger republic.Abubakar stated this when he inspected fighter jets and other NAF facilities at Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto.He expressed satisfaction over ongoing interdictory operations which he said was extremely successful as NAF maintained pressure on the bandits.According to him, NAF is working with the ground troops to mop up the affected areas after each strike in order to clear the places and make them safer.”Kagara forest is extended from Kaduna up to Zamfara state and Niger Republic with target to secure all parts of Nigeria.”We liaise with Niger Republic security forces to ensure complete success of the exercise.”Security is not only about bullets and bombs, security and development are two side of the same coin.”I have constantly sought to evolve strategies that would enable the service adequately project air power to effectively and efficiently deal with prevalent security threats.”I am happy that state governments are doing right things to return hopes to the residents through putting up right infrastructure and other support.”All sectors needed to be mobilized to ensure peace and safe environments, collective efforts are desirable to achieved the targeted goal,” the Air Chief said.He said that those that nursed the impression that the operations was for some days are wasting their time.Abubakar commended governors and community members for their support in the ongoing interdiction operations against banditry and other criminals.He urged the troops deployed to fight against banditry and kidnappings to continue to do everything possible not to give breathing space to bandits.
