In the Name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Ever Merciful.
All Praise is to Allah the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. Abundance of blessing be upon the Noble Messenger, Muhammad (s.a.w) , his household, his companions and the rest of Mankind that follow him till the Day of Judgment. Having said this, let me begin today’s piece this way: Out of His mercy , Allah ( s.w.t ) has given to humanity the Glorious Qur’an.
From His mercy, Allah has sent Messengers and Prophets214,000 of them (PBUT).
From His mercy, Allah has given us (the month of Ramadan, therefore;
Ramadan is the reason for the season. It is the month that herald the commencement of revelation of the Glorious Qur’an purposely given to humanity through the Arch Angel Jubril{ ( Gabriel a.s to serve as Book of Guidance and Justice.
Now the fasting have commenced and it is expected of every Muslim to be the better for it by among others:
Guiding and guarding your fast
Engaging in dhikr ( remembrance of Allah s.w.t
Nawafil – Voluntary Prayers during the day and the Night
Doing much of Sadaka ( Charity ) among other meritorious acts that purify or capable of purifying your worship
On this write- up today, I shall with the guidance of Allah be making attempt at leading youthrough a path that will enliven your life in this season of mercy.
In Surah 76. (Ad-Dahr)
1. Hath there come Upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered?
This is a point for you to ponder
Whatever your age might be, so long as you have the presence of mind to read this piece, you certainly are a grown up
You might even be a person of substance
You might be a man or woman in power or government
You might even have the power of life and death such as:
President , Judge, Governor, Military, Armed Robber, Cult or Gang- all of these people have gotten that power for good or for evil
You, if you can read this, is likely to have between the smallest denomination of the currency in your Country and or be counted among the richest people in the continents, but reflect on the poser above
Hath there come Upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered?
2. Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing.
Your mobile beginning is her stated
You are a creation of two fluid
One from the waist of your father and the other coming from the chest of your mother, both water meeting where they are transported to the womb
For you to come into the world is the probability of 1:1,000,000,000. If you consider the fact that the male sperm single discharge run into millions and only one of the male egg is required
Each month, miscarriage occurs, but you survived
Some are delivered dead on arrival
When you consider the fact that before age of 5 years infant mortality is a reality,
it is in your interest to see yourself as a miracle of Allah Majesty is His
If you can read this, the verse is talking to you, hear again:
Lo! We Majesty is His create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We Majesty is His make him hearing, knowing.
3. Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving.
Two organ are vital to know the difference between man an animal
The ability to hear and discern means that you have a head
The head houses the organ of hearing, the Ear and the Brain
The capacity to reason should mean that you can discern truth from lies
It means that you have sufficient dignity to worship not idol
You also know you are not from ape or any other animal at that
You are a creature of a purpose
The prophet of Islam, Muhammad s.a.w was reported in an Haadith Qudsi that: ‘Allah has not created men and Jin for any purpose than than to worship Allah’
The capacity to know what is wrong is available to man
The ability to know what is right is also within man’s available facility
The purpose for these abilities is for no other purpose other than the stated verse:
“We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving’.
4. Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire.
Not believing in God has its consequence
The worship of images or inanimate object is demeaning to human personality
The worship of your Creator brings you honor and contentment
If you have faith, Ramadan among the 5 pillars of Islam becomes non negotiable
‘Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire.’
5. Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of water of Kafur,
Specially prepared water will be given for drinking to the faithful, the righteous servant of Allah majesty is His
The reward for obedience, and faithfulness to Allah is very great
6. A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly,
The ability to obey the Commandment of Allah required some level of purpose
In fact man’s will is tested, the soul is very arrogant and so,
Allah recognized the obedient servant to the extent that a special spring will be the source of their water in paradise
7. Because they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide spreading,
The vow you made was to the fact that you will submit to His will
That you will worship Him alone.
One important symbol of obeisance to Allah is Ramadan
Fasting in the month and reciting the Qur’an, doing charity while engaging in Nawafil is rewardable, hear what the Qur’an said:”.
Because they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide spreading’
8. And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him,
The intention behind the work carries more weight than the action
Feeding the needy has to be altruistic
Job opportunity is also an avenue of feeding the needy
Giving out gift for the sake of bringing relief to the people
The needy are those whose take- home- pay cannot them them home.
The wretched are those that are unemployed and those indebted for one reason or the other
The prisoner are those that were in prison by Law or
The one that is in prisoner by virtue of ill health, he is in the hospital and bill he cannot pay
In whatever way you assist, develop, feed, or bring relief to these category of people, and it is not for show- off, then be rest assured of Allah’s reward
Even when those you helped hasten to appreciate you in whatever form, you should be humble enough to let them know you are genuine; here this:
9. (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you;
10. Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate.
What will be the disposition of Allah to such an individual?
11. Therefor Allah hath warded from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy;
Let me rest my case for now. The drift of today’s issue is that all of us should endeavor to not only fast as prescribed: charity, compassion, and other acts that makes the society run smoothly should be part of our package as we flow with Ramadan. Be moderate in your life style, have God in mind in whatever you are doing and you will discover how beautiful an existence you will have.
A stress free life of contentment occasioned by obedience to Allah’s injunctions and consideration to social justice. Ramadan Kareem!!!
