By Olusegun Lawrence Senators elected on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday, failed to stop the Senate from transmitting official communication to President Muhammadu Buhari on the Minster-Designates.
At resumption of plenary, Senate President Bukola Saraki had called for a motion to formally communicate to the President, names of minister-designates as confirmed by the Senate.
Sequel to the motion moved by Senator Isiaka Adeleke (APC), Senate President called on Senator Peter Nwabochi (PDP) to second the motion which he declined.
Nwabochi, anchored is refusal to second the motion on the fact that he was not at plenary when some of the minister-designates were confirmed.
Mr. Saraki thereafter called on Senator Ibrahim Gobir (APC) who quickly seconded the motion.
Also, when the Senate President put forward the question for the passage of the motion, all the PDP Senators shouted “NAY’, meaning they were opposed to sending such letter to the presidency.
Prompt News recalls that PDP Senators had last week opposed the screening and subsequent confirmation of a former Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, over an alleged corruption petition brought against him by Rivers Integrity Group.
