The FCT Administration is working on a blueprint to make all government primary, junior and senior secondary schools in the Federal Capital Territory models for other 36 states in the country to emulate.
FCT Minister Muhammad Musa Bello, gave this assurance Thursday after receiving a report of completion of a mechanized borehole for the pupils of LEA Primary School, Mpape, a suburb of Abuja.
The Minister had recently directed the FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye to meet with all the principals of secondary schools in the Federal Capital Territory on the need to work towards achieving 50 percent in the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and the National Examination Council (NECO) as from next academic year.
Bello explained that his Administration would do everything possible to reposition all FCT public schools with adequate teaching aids that would make them pacesetters in the country.
According to him, “we have high level of elites gathered in the FCT which should be reflected in the performance of our primary and secondary schools and the foundation we are laying would surely translate into brilliant performance because we need to get it right at the foundation level”.
On the completion of the mechanized high capacity borehole in LEA Primary School, Mpape by the FCT Administration, he assured that it is the beginning of good things to come for the FCT public schools.
The Minister had a couple of months ago directed the FCT Water Board to drill a borehole in the LEA Primary School, Mpape to alleviate the perennial water problems being experienced by pupils and management of the school.
Earlier, the Director of the FCT Universal Basic Education, Dr. Adamu Jatau Noma, thanked the Minister for the special attention his Administration has given to the education sub sector in the FCT.
Dr. Noma who expressed satisfaction with the borehole, said the school is now enjoying better teaching and learning activities since getting efficient water supply is no longer a problem.
He thus, assured that the borehole would be properly maintained and utilized to achieve the purpose for which it was drilled.
