The 4th Annual Olorogun Michael C. Ibru Memorial Lecture organised by Michael and Cecilia Ibru University will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2020, from noon to 3 pm via the videoconference platform, Zoom. This year’s lecture will also serve as the official launch of the Enterprise and Innovation Centre, an offshoot of the Michael and Cecilia Ibru University.
The 2020 edition of the Memorial Lecture has Mr Peter Bamkole, Pioneer Director, Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Pan-African University, as the keynote speaker. He will draw from his vast wealth of experience and expertise to speak on the aptly coined topic, Innovation in Entrepreneurship Changes the Rules of the GAME.
This will be followed by a panel session where an array of seasoned discussants who are Captains of Industry in their respective disciplines will extensively examine the focal point of the Memorial Lecture, Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Nigeria. Bismarck Rewane, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Financial Derivatives Company Limited in Lagos, will seat as one the discussants.
He will be joined by Muda Yusuf the Director-General of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce, Mr Obaro Osah, Regional Manager, Bank of Industry, and Professor Anthony Kila, Professor of Strategy and Development, and the Centre Director at CIAPS and International Director of Studies at the European Centre of Advanced and Professional Studies.
The panel will be ably moderated by Dr Benson Uwheru, Partner, Ernst & Young International. Together, they will brainstorm with contribution from stakeholders, government officials, Chief Executive Officers of the private sector across the globe in an interactive session that will facilitate the exchange of ideas and networking for building entrepreneurial ideas, harnessing skills and building business.
The Lecture will be chaired by Olorogun Moses Taiga while Goodie Ibru, Esq. will lead the commemorative citation.
The official launch of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre at the Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, in honour of its Founder, Olorogun (Dr.) Michael C. O. Ibru, OFR (The Otota of Agbarha Kingdom), will be the culmination of the vision of the university as part of her contribution to Nation building using Entrepreneurship and Innovation as a pivot.
The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre will cater to the teaching of vocational skills and entrepreneurial competencies whilst serving as an innovations’ hub for young and enterprising minds where it will also create business opportunities and provide start-up aid.
The Centre’s initiators believe that nurturing entrepreneurs in developing countries will provide innovations that are important for firm country growth and that Innovation can play an important role in catch-up and growth of human capital in a global economy especially as we move to “the new normal”.
Michael and Cecilia Ibru University is licensed by the Federal Government of Nigeria to operate as a Private University and is fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) as an approved institution with the powers to award degrees and postgraduate studies.
