Again, Argentine football legend and Paris St-Germain forward, Lionel Messi has won the Ballon d’Or, awarded to the Best Footballer of the Year by French outfit for a record seventh time.
Messi, 34, helped his country win the Copa America, his first international honour, and has also scored 40 goals in 2021 just as he scored 28 for Barcelona, four for Paris St-Germain and eight for Argentina.
Also, Poland and Bayern Munich lethal striker Robert Lewandowski came second while Chelsea and Italy midfielder Jorginho was third.
Real Madrid’s French striker Karim Benzema finished fourth as Chelsea and French midfielder N’ Golo Kante came fifth in that order.
Meanwhile, English club, Chelsea FC won the ‘Team of the Year Award on the night. The Thomas Tuchel- tutored team won the UEFA Champions League trophy after beating beating another Premiership team in the final of the 2019/20 season.
