An Upper Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, has sentenced a man, Nathaniel Danjuma, to two years imprisonment for theft.
Danjuma was arraigned alongside Japhet Habila on a three-count charge of criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Esther Bishen, told the court that one Caleb Bakam of Ungwan Rimi reported the matter at the station on March 5.
Bishen stated that the complainant woke up on the morning of March 1 and found the bonnet of his car opened and some items stolen from the vehicle.
She listed the stolen items to include one battery, wrist watch, head warmer and a 32 GB memory card, all valued N60,500.
Bishen said the second defendant was caught wearing the stolen head warmer which he said was given to him by the first defendant.
She noted that when the first defendant was arrested, he admitted to stealing the aforementioned items.
When the charges were read to them, they both pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.
