A man, Bitrus Jaja, on Monday dragged his friend, Andrew Dodo before an upper Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, for alleged cheating.
Dodo is charged with cheating and criminal breach of trust, in violation of the provisions of sections 307 and 207 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.
Jaja filed a direct criminal complaint alleging that he loaned the defendant the sum of N50, 000 to enable him solve a problem.
He noted that the defendant used a piece of land as collateral and it was later discovered that the said land did not belong to the defendant.
He said that all efforts to recover his money from the defendant failed.
When the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.
In his ruling, the presiding judge, George Gwani admitted him to bail in the sum of N30, 000 and one surety in like sum.
Gwani adjourned the matter until Nov. 4 for hearing. (NAN)
