A father of two children in Rivers State has fled his house to evade arrest after bathing hot water on a 31-year-old neighbour, a hair stylist, simply identified as Miss Blessing.
The incident which happened on Wednesday, had put the victim in a precarious situation as she is now fighting for her life at the hospital, following the hot water attack which affected her face and breasts.
Our correspondent learnt that the fleeing suspect, Mr. Ejike, attacked the victim at her shop within the compound the assailant and the victim both occupy at Azikiwe Street, Mile 2, Diobu, Port Harcourt.
It was gathered that trouble began when a young son of the Mr. Ejike, the assailant stumbled on an electric kettle containing hot water in the shop of the lady, and was consequently burnt by the hot water splashes kept for steaming of a customers’ braided hair.

While the victim, Blessing and other neighbours were pacifying the little boy who was crying following his minor burns on the leg, the boys father rushed to the scene from his house, grabbed the hot water kettle and poured it on the women.
A source in the area stated that the attacker, Mr. Ejike, ran away afterwards, prompting concerned neighbours to rush the female victim to the Azikiwe Police Division, where she was issued a Police medical report, and subsequently to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Meanwhile, family members of the victim are calling on the Police to ensure justice on the matter.
Elder brother of the victim, Goodluck Nwankwo, who spoke on behalf of the family said, “We want the Police to get the young man arrested, then if he is arrested he will see what he did to my sister. (Independent)
