A 58-year-old man, Samuel Balogun, on Friday appeared at an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, charged with allegedly punching a man.
The Police charged the defendant, whose address was not provided, with assault and conspiracy.
The Prosecutor, Insp. E. O. Adaraloye, told the Court that the defendant and others at large committed the offence on Sunday at about 1:30 p.m.
The offence was committed at No. 8, Yakubu Adepoju Avenue, Iyesi, Ota.
Adaraloye alleged that the defendant and his accomplices conspired to assault the complainant, Hassan Aderemi, when a fight broke out between them.
He said the offences contravened Sections 355 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr O. O. Okiki, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum. READ ALSO:

Okiki said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun government.
The case was adjourned until Sept. 4 for further hearing.(NAN)
