Two players of Crown FC, Ogbomosho, Benson Omodo and Segun Ayo have been suspended from league games for a period of one year each for assault on Center Referee while the Club has been ordered to pay compensation of N.2m to the Center Referee for the assault.
It is the second disciplinary decision of the League Management Company (LMC) in the last 24 hours in a move to curb end-of-season desperation of Clubs to secure results to advance their aspirations.
Nembe City Coaches, John Aranka and Felix Levi were earlier slammed with one year suspension apiece for inciting players and attacking match officials. The Club was also fined for abandoning a league match for more than five minutes in contravention of extant rules of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Omodo and Ayo were charged for improper conduct by the LMC following their attack on Center Referee, Marcus Bwashi after Crown drew 0-0 with Enyimba in a Match Day 30 fixture in Ibadan.
The ruling from the LMC made public Wednesday said the two players were found culpable as charged and will subsequently not participate in the Glo Premier League matches for the next one year.
Crown FC was also ordered to pay N200, 000 as compensation to the assaulted Center Referee in accordance with provisions of the 2013/14 Rules.
The LMC further reprimanded Supporters of Crown FC for throwing dangerous objects into the pitch and warned them to desist from engaging in such disorderly conduct.
