The Lagos State Government has impounded 70 commercial motorcycles during an enforcement exercise on restricted routes across the Island axis of the state.
The Ministry of Transportation disclosed this in a statement shared on X on Thursday and signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi.
According to the
ministry, the operation was carried out on Wednesday and commenced around 9:30am.
It said the clean-up exercise covered major locations including Falomo Underbridge, Marina, Coastal Road, Ajah Roundabout, Ogombo, Igboefon, Abraham Adesanya Junction and 2nd Rainbow.
The statement noted that the enforcement targeted violations such as the ban on commercial motorcycles on highways, street trading, illegal parking, unapproved bus stops and other activities said to be threatening public safety and disrupting traffic flow.
The ministry added that the operation led to the seizure of 70 motorcycles, which it said helped restore order and ease movement in the affected areas.
It also stated that the
motorcycles would be forfeited to the state through the courts in line with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
