A group of lawmakers from the Lagos State House of Assembly recently visited the Department of State Security (DSS) office in Magodo following the detention of two of their colleagues.
The visit was prompted by the detention of Hon. Lanre Afinni and Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu, who had been invited for questioning in connection with matters concerning the state assembly.
As of the latest reports, one of the detained lawmakers has been released, while the other remains in DSS custody.
Among those who visited the DSS office to express solidarity were Hon. Abiodun Tobun (Epe constituency), Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu (Eti-Osa constituency two), Hon. Kehinde Joseph (Alimosho constituency two), Hon. Solomon Bonu (Badagry constituency one), along with other members.
This incident has sparked tensions, coming on the heels of the recent removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
