Kwara United tightly held on to top spot in the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Sunday, leading the pack on goals difference after eight Match Day 18 fixtures.
The Ilorin side did it in style though, winning 2-1 away to Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, even as Kano Pillars stayed hot on their heels.
Kano Pillars beat visiting Heartland FC of Owerri 2-1 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, sitting behind the leaders on goals difference with 33 points.
Akwa United are in third place after a 3-0 thumping of Lobi Stars of Makurdi in Uyo, while Nasarawa United beat Abia Warriors of Umuahia 5-3 in Lafia.
They moved to fourth place with 30 points, ahead on better goals difference of Rangers International of Enugu who lost 1-2 to Plateau United in Jos.
Rivers United beat Sunshine Stars of Akure 1-0 in Port Harcourt to move to sixth, while Enyimba International who play on a Monday dropped to seventh.
Dakkada FC are below Enyimba in eighth place with 26 points, ahead of both sides’ clash on Monday, while Plateau United moved into ninth place.
On account of their home win, they are ahead of 10th-placed Lobi Stars who lost in Uyo.
Warri Wolves moved out of the relegation zone into 16th place after beating FC IfeanyiUbah 3-1, while Adamawa United of Yola could only pick a point against visiting Wikki Tourists.
Their match in Gombe ended goalless, and it was not really helpful to both sides as the hosting Adamawa United stayed bottom of the log.(NAN)
