By Gracious Akujobi Nigeria Football Federation has been given a provisional kit sponsorship deal extension by manufacturing giants, Adidas pending renewal.
Adidas had threatened to sue the NFF should any of the national teams wear its kits effective from January 2015.
Federation President, Amaju Pinnick, announced this to newsmen in Abuja, assuring that the football house was working on renewing the contract which expires at the end of December 2014.
Pinnick noted that the leadership crisis that engulfed the Federation was responsible for the delay in the renewal of the kit sponsorship contract.
“We requested for an extension which has been granted to us and we will see how we can tidy up and get Adidas back.
“This is because we have a prime commodity in the Super Falcons playing in the World Cup next year. We have thirteen national teams not just the Super Falcons.
“The truth is, if we don’t sit down to do things properly, there is no way you are going to achieve any good result. If you jump into a problem, it lingers as a problem.
“So, we are taking our time sitting down and looking at it to come out with something that you will see and say I am proud to be a Nigerian,’’ Pinnick said.
He said further that the NFF was working round the clock to get them back stressing that the Federation has been able to secure an appointment with Adidas and that hopefully things will be sorted out soon.
“In Adidas, we have a prized commodity we shall like to keep. So, we are hopeful that we shall get a kit sponsorship with Adidas” Pinnick concluded
