The Pro-chancellor and Governing Council Chairman of Koladaisi University, Remi Babalola, has assured the graduates of the Institution that they have the passport to the future they desire if they deploy their trained mind to think creatively.
He gave the assurance during his address at the 3rd convocation ceremony of the University which was held on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the University.
Delivering the address to the elated graduating students, the erstwhile Minister of State, Finance and immediate past Chairman of FBN Holdings Plc said, “Our graduands have the passport to the future they desire if they would go a step further by deploying their trained mind to think creatively in solving problems that would present themselves in the form of opportunities for discerning minds; whether as potential employees or entrepreneurs in the making.”
Speaking further, Babalola stressed that the Institution had cultivated in the graduands the attributes and competencies required to turn around Nigeria into an economy that might more competently take its place in the global comity of nations.
He added that the moment Nigeria is so great enough to be ignored by the world, the nation will not need any appeal to join BRICS and G-20 formations.
Babalola emphasized that the graduands have been found worthy in character and learning following the investment of the much-needed knowledge and ethics in them during the course of their academic programmes.
During the address, the former Minister noted that the University Council in collaboration with the Management was focused on achieving excellence in key areas of the Institution so as to transform the University community into a more conducive environment for learning and creative thinking thus facilitating the realization of the University’s vision, mission and set objectives.
He encouraged the graduates to see opportunity in the various economic challenges facing Nigeria as the same economy continues to offer up innumerable vistas for Nigerians with vision and resilience with a future of exciting and infinite possibilities waiting for them to play their part.
He admonished them to cultivate excellent characters in their journey through adulthood as their education was of no value if they shunned attributes such as respect, patience, contentment, integrity, devotion to duty, empathy and a sense of responsibility.
He assured them that their aspirations for greatness in life would come through if they would make certain sacrifices to push through boundaries likely to stand in their way to fulfilling them.
According to Babalola, the education of their minds had given them the opportunity to become one of society’s positive change agents.
He stressed the need for them to keep evolving by continuously learning and that having educated their mind and stretched their mental capacity to solve problems for the good of the society, they had become one of society’s positive change agents.
He advised the University graduates not to stop dreaming about the audacious future they were aiming to achieve as he hoped to see them in high places before long. READ ALSO:
